MSM faculty member harpist Anraku圆子—“a manifestation of grace 和 elegance” (耶路撒冷邮报)—has enchanted audiences through numerous appearances as soloist as well as chamber 和 orchestral musician. 的 纽约时报 has hailed her as a “masterful artist of intelligence 和 wit.自1995年以来, she has held the position of Associate Principal 竖琴ist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Since her debut as soloist with the Toronto Symphony led by Sir Andrew Davis, Ms. Anraku has appeared with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, 东京交响乐团, Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra, 和 Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia, 等. 作为一个独奏家, she has performed in major concert halls on three continents, including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall 和 Merkin Concert Hall in New York, Jordan Hall in Boston, Bing 的ater at the L.A. 县博物馆, Opera Comique in Paris, the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, 和卡萨尔家族, Kioi, 和 Oji halls in Tokyo.

Ms. Anraku’s impressive list of awards includes first prize at the 1st Nippon 竖琴 Competition; first prize, the Channel Classics Recording Prize, 和 the ITT Corporation Prize at the Concert Artists Guild Competition in New York; 和 the Pro Musicis Foundation International Award. She was also awarded third prize 和 the Pearl Chertok Prize for the best performance of the required Israeli composition at the 11th International 竖琴 Contest in Israel.

Ms. Anraku’s strong commitment to contemporary music 和 the expansion of the boundaries of the harp repertoire has included an invitation to premiere works by Toshio Hosokawa at the Donaueschingen Musiktage in 德国, the Wien Modern in Austria, 和 festivals in Tubinger 和 Cologne, 德国, collaborating with traditional Japanese musicians 和 monks. Ms. Anraku also gave the U.S. premiere of Jean-Michel Damase’s Concerto, 叙事曲, with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra at the American 竖琴 Society Conference. She has also collaborated in a Tribute to Takemitsu performance at Merkin Concert Hall in New York.

An active chamber musician, Ms. Anraku has performed at the Spoleto, 莱诺克斯, 纽波特, 和 Bridgehampton chamber music festivals in the U.S.A., the Banff Centre 和 the Festival of Sound in Canada, the Spoleto Festival in Italy, 和 the Karuizawa 和 Takefu music festivals, 等, 在日本. She has also performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Harvard Music Association, 和 Columbia University, 和 has collaborated with clarinetist Richard Stoltzman 和 flutists Emmanuel Pahud, 卡罗尔Wincenc, 葆拉·罗宾逊, 艾米丽Beynon, 迈克尔Parloff, 玛丽娜Piccinini, Stefan Ragnar Hoskuldsson, 和 Denis Bouriakov.

Ms. Anraku has been a member of the Pacific Music Festival (PMF) faculty since 2011. She often serves as a jury member at competitions, most recently at the 20th International 竖琴 Contest in Israel.

Anraku圆子 holds Bachelor’s 和 Master’s degrees from the Juilliard School 和 is a recipient of an Artist’s Diploma from the Glenn Gould School in Toronto. Her teachers have included Judy Loman, Nancy Allen, Lanalee deKant, 和 her aunt Kumiko Inoue. Ms. Anrakualso studied Oriental Art History at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. She enjoys playing community service concerts at hospitals, drug rehabilitation centers, 监狱, 以及其他场所.
